We only have 4 seasonal sites left for the 2008 season, give us a call for the pro-rated special prices for a seasonal campsite. This will also help with the rising gas prices just leave your camper here.

If you book online the instant rebate will not show on the total cost, but will still be applied before you receive your final confirmation and before your credit card is billed.

Good question, and there are at least two good answers.

First, as already mentioned, West Boggs is only part of a much larger study project. The West Boggs fishery was selected to use only a winter drawdown as a control test. As long as the study is still underway, which is scheduled to last through 2010, altering control methods would only serve to create inconclusive results in the study project. After the study is complete, other control efforts will be considered, and may include introduction of other predators. But it is important to understand that determining if such control efforts are a good things or not is why the study is taking place. There simply is insufficient science to guide these decisions and what Bob at the bait shop thinks is not likely a good substitute for science.

The second thing to be considered is that, despite the fact that the Shad population will harm all the fishery in due time, presently the Largemouth Bass population is using shad to some good effect in providing some excellent bass fishing opportunity. As long as that is being productive, it is likely that any new predator introduced would compete with the Bass and overall opportunity would decline.

Many anglers question why other species such as stripers have not been introduced as part of the effort to control the gizzard shad population. Apparently this is a measure that has been utilized in other fisheries. Has this been considered as another tool in dealing with the shad problem in the West Boggs lake fishery?
